Hair loss can be absolutely natural or exaggerated. Find out against hair loss natural remedies and tips and the role of Triphala powder, an Ayurvedic recipe.

Hair can be lost every day: this is absolutely normal. Instead, it is important to understand how many lose it and when you notice it: if there is really an abnormal hair loss, the hair is already in the hand when you pass your hand over the scalp. If the hair loss is abnormal it is very evident: you can find your hair everywhere.

Hair loss: possible causes

There are several possible causes for hair loss. There are periods, the so-called “change of seasons”, and in particular in autumn, that hair loss is accelerated: certainly the transition from summer to autumn can have a certain influence, the seasons are no longer so well defined and the changes in temperature are sometimes sudden; moreover, our body is struggling to get used to these changes and clearly the hair can have a more or less accelerated cycle. Even atmospheric agents can affect the well-being of the hair. Much depends on our psychophysical state (stress, weakness, ..): the hair, yes, is the mirror of health.

However, if you really lose your hair you will notice it right away. For hair loss, alopecia also known probable causes are: a disease, the use of certain medications, or even due to an infection of the scalp. To identify specific causes for alopecia, in this case it is better to consult the doctor: once the cause (or causes!) Has been identified, action is taken.

Alopecia: natural remedies

In the event of frequent hair loss (alopecia) it is definitely recommended to immediately improve the environment in which the hair lives, perfecting its growth, supporting and supporting the treatment of abnormal causes. A healthy environment for hair begins with a healthy scalp. Important is therefore a cleansing with quality products (delicate and with a good INCI), constant, stimulating the blood circulation of the scalp, and if the hair falls out because it grows in a hair follicle where there are not enough vitamins to nourish it, you will also need a vitamin supplementation.

Among the professional products natural remedies that we can recommend on our online herbal medicine shop there are the products (organic and made in Italy) of Domus Olea’s cosmeceuticals: pre-treating mask, nourished by scalp imbalances, restructuring shampoo. Also for the care of hair that falls, we cannot fail to mention Triphala, powder. You can use it with hair loss lotion and renforcing shampoo by Phitofilos.

Triphala powder and an Ayurvedic recipe

Triphala is an ancient recipe of Ayurvedic medicine, and literally means “three fruits”, since it is composed of three Indian fruits: amalaki (Emblica officinalis, or Amla), haritaki (Terminalia chebula) and bibhitaki (Terminalia belerica). The mixture is based on the balance of the three Doshas existing in Ayurvedic medicine: Vata (nervous system), Pitta (metabolism), Kapha (structure and support).

Doshas are considered a sort of “primary forces” present in every human being, but they are subject to imbalance. When this imbalance persists for a long time, according to Ayurvedic medicine, various kinds of disorders can arise up to real diseases. Triphala, which as mentioned, contains three plants capable of balancing all three Doshas: Amalaki is associated with Dosha Pitta, Haritaki with Dosha Vata, Bibhitaki instead helps to balance Dosha Kapha.

Numerous research papers validate the ethno-medicinal claims that Triphala shows anti-free radical, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic, antibacterial, anti-mutagenic, healing, anti-carcinogenic, anti-carcinogenic, anti-stress, adaptogen, hypoglycemic, anti-tumor, radioprotective, chemoproactive and chemoproactive.

Triphala powder against hair loss: what it contains

Most of Triphala’s health-giving properties have been attributed to the presence of secondary polyphenolic metabolites such as gallic acid, ellagic acid and chebulinic acid, the main constituents of Triphala. But here are the three plants, or rather, the three fruits, which make it up:

  • Amalaki (Emblica officinalis): the fruits have a bitter taste and among the main components there are tannins, fillemblic acid, lipids, gallic acid, emblicol and vitamin C. In Ayurvedic medicine, amalaki is used to treat bleeding, diarrhea , dysentery and in association with iron in cases of anemia, jaundice and dyspepsia. Amalaki has the highest amount of vitamin C existing in nature (it is estimated more than 20 times the vitamin C content of a common orange), which acts as a radical scavenger: it promotes the longevity and sustenance of all body tissues, delays the aging and maintains the cellular nourishing quality. The natural Amalaki vitamin C is also more easily absorbed than the synthetic one: it has stability over time and heat due to the presence of some tannins that bind to it, inhibiting its dissipation. For external use, Amalaki prevents hair loss and nourishes the hair itself. Thanks to its antioxidant power it is useful against oxidative damage to the skin (Chaudhuri, 2002). It also has antifungal activity (Dutta et al 1998);
  • Haritaki (Terminalia chebula): it is a strengthening and purifying plant, considered the most sacred in the Himalaya region. The fruit is rich in anthraquinones (for this reason it is used as a laxative), tannins, amino acids, fructose, succinic acid and betasitosterols;
  • Bibhitaki (Terminalia belerica): it has astringent, tonic, digestive and antispasmodic properties. The fruit has antibacterial properties and is used in dropsy, hemorrhoids, diarrhea. It has a powerful purging action and can expel the accumulation of mucus or stones. It is also considered a strong rejuvenator, especially for the body, eyesight, hair. Externally, the high levels of tannins contribute to its vulnerable action by accelerating the healing of cuts and wounds. Bibhitaki also has an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic action on the skin. It is used for hair to stimulate hair growth and for skin diseases (Googte 2000).

Triphala powder against hair loss: what’s the best in Italy

Even for external use, the synergy of these three fruits is the real strength of Triphala. This invigorating trio has a marked rejuvenating effect thanks to the very high content of vitamin C which provides nourishment to cells and tissues throughout our body.

For these reasons and for what we will explain, Phitofilos, Italian leader in the professional hair products sector based on vegetable herbs (henne and hair care) of which Erboristeria Como is a reseller, has just proposed on the Italian market Triphala as a mixture of powders with strong fortifying and anti-fall properties. In the Ayurvedic tradition it is also used to prevent graying and premature graying. The Triphala powder by Phitofilos, vegan ok, is also ideal on the face as a revitalizing and illuminating mask. The high percentage of antioxidant principles helps to keep skin and hair toned and healthy.

Triphala powder and skin benefits

As we know, our skin acts as a “bridge” between the internal and external environment and in it there is a complex network of antioxidant substances and enzymes, continuously exposed to the oxidative environment. The epidermis, in particular, is adversely affected by abiotic factors. Environmental stress along with the normal aging process can deplete the epidermis of protective antioxidants, leading to damage to the skin and premature aging. Numerous extrinsic factors favor the skin aging process such as UV radiation, environmental pollution, poor nutrition and smoke. The cellular redox process constantly produces free radicals such as reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) normally using body oxygen. In addition, exposure to UV radiation leads to an increase in ROS / RNS production, peroxidation of fatty acids with the formation of hydroperoxides. These free radicals have an unusual attraction for biological macromolecules (DNA, RNA and proteins) which lead to oxidative damage. Specific signs of skin aging occur due to several biological mechanisms, including loss of structural proteins in the skin, loss of hydration and increased sensitivity to UV-induced pigmentation. The biological phenomena of skin aging are associated with specific aging-related genes.

Triphala is a formulation used to protect the skin and to treat various skin conditions such as skin aging for over 5000 years! The results of the study “Protective Effects of Triphala on Dermal Fibroblasts and Human Keratinocytes“, published in 2016, highlight the benefits of Triphala associated with its potential antioxidant property, the ability to contrast radicals, the delay of cell senescence, the construction of proteins. Structural such as collagen and elastin, restoring the skin’s barrier function and providing hydration to the skin and scalp, for healthier and stronger hair.
