Rowan.The sorbus bud extract is a product much sought after by our customers: we therefore decided to dedicate a specific post to it.

The Sorb (scientific name: Sorbus domestica), in english commonly said “rowan” is a long-lived tree of the Rosaceae family that blooms in April, with white flowers with five petals, fruits that are pomes and are harvested in October-November, but are not consumed fresh at harvest ( they are consumed gradually during the winter, after a process of transformation of the tannins), bipennate leaves. The part used in gemmotherapy is the gem.

Rowan bud extract: the properties

Rowan bud extract is considered a specific remedy for the veins: it tones the vein wall, fights inflammation and reduces congestive phenomena.
It works in venous insufficiency syndromes characterized by heaviness in the limbs and acroparestesie (feeling of numbness, tingling, small punctures at the level of the fingers of a hand) and in pre-thrombotic states: it shows, in fact, a certain tendency to correct the hyper-coagulation.

Rowan bud extract: what to use It for

  • venous insufficiency lower limbs: for this function usually the rowan bud extract is associated with the chestnut bud extract (Castanea vesca, for its action on lymphatic drainage) in the treatment of veno-lymphatic insufficiency of the lower limbs;
  • in the treatment of thrombophlebitis: generally in association with the elm bud extract (Alnus glutinosa);
  • in the treatment of varicose ulcer, generally in association with chestnut bud extract (Castanea vesca) and walnut bud extract (Juglans regia</em>); in this case the rowan bud extract is taken before breakfast, the walnut bud extract before lunch and the chestnut bud extract after dinner, for 2 months;
  • in the treatment of hemorrhoids: for the treatment of hemorrhoids usually the rowan bud extract  is associated with the horse chestnut bud extract, Aesculus hippocastanum;
  • in circulatory disorders of menopause: it is reported as a remedy to be prescribed in climacteric and menopausal women, as it helps to reduce circulatory symptoms, such as headache, hot flushes and hypertension characterized in particular by an increase in the minimum pressure. In the case of circulatory disorders in general, the rowan bud extract is taken in water before lunch and is joined in its action by the cranberry bud extract (Vaccinium vitis idaea, which is usually taken before breakfast) to the chestnut bud extract (which usually it is taken after dinner) for 20-day cycles for 2-3 months;
  • tinnitus (ringing in the ear) and deafness sustained both by tympanosclerosis, occurring following repeated infections, and by vascular spasm accompanied by vertigo and buzzing (tinnitus) (generally associated with the Viburnum bud extract, Viburnum lantana). Their action on the viscosity of the blood, which decreases, is partly responsible, in this last case, for the improvement of the symptomatology.

How to use it

It is necessary to take 50 drops of rowan bud extract, diluted in water and sip slowly, 1-2 times a day.
